The E4 is the latest instrument from Q-Sense, primarily designed for rapid characterization of bio-interfaces.
New software and electronics allow measurement data from all four sensors to be acquired within a second with preserved sensitivity. The chamber has four removable flow modules, each holding one sensor. The flow modules can be used in any serial or parallel configuration to suit different measurements needs.

Measurement Chamber Platform QCP 101 QCP 101 is a compact design for one flow module, holding one sensor. It is temperature controlled and samples are introduced by using a peristaltic pump included in the system. An optional electrochemistry cell is available making it possible to combine QCM-D and electrochemistry measurements. A window module is also available for optical access to the crystal during measurements, enabling e.g. a combination of microscopy and QCM-D. |

Electronics Unit QE 401 The Electronics Unit is the core of the system. It enables high sensitivity, multi-channel, multi-frequency and temperature-controlled measurements. The Electronics Unit is the link between the Measurement Chamber and the PC. |

Software QSoft 401 and QTools 2.0 QSoft 401 is used to acquire data. The responses of the two parameters, f and D, are plotted on the PC-screen in real time for each sensor. QTools is used for data analysis, for example to create different plots or to conduct mathematical modelling of measurement results extracting thickness, viscosity, elasticty and kinetic constants. |

Sensor Crystals Q-Sense uses 5 MHz AT-cut, optically polished quartz crystals. A variety of surfaces are available, for example Polystyrene, Stainless steel and SiO2. For further information, please click the link above. |
Q-Sense E1 is designed for rapid characterisation of bio-interfaces using the following features.
Measure the mass
of molecular layers forming on the surface with nanogram sensitivity. For example, 1% or less of a protein monolayer can be detected.
Structural changes
to be measured simultaneously so as to distinguish between two similar binding events or observe a phase transition in bound layers.
Real time measurements
allowing real-time recording and evaluation of kinetics.
Flow measurements
Chamber specifically designed for flow measurements in a temperature-controlled environment.
Electrochemistry cell
Study electrochemical reactions simultaneously by using an optional electrochemistry cell.
Flexible choice of surface
including metals, polymers and chemically / biologically modified surfaces. Any surface that can be applied as a thin film can be used.
Multi-frequency measurements
Up to 6 overtones can be measured, in addition to the fundamental frequency. By using overtones safer measurement results can be obtained and characterisation of the overlayer by mathematical modelling becomes possible.
