Micromechanical Testing - From the Nano to the Micro domain

Micro force sensors, Microgrippers and Micromanipulators

FemtoTools are a Swiss high-tech company that offers award-winning, high-precision instruments for mechanical testing and robotic handling in the micro and nano range. The system range comprises high-precision microforce sensing probes, force sensing microgrippers and micro manipulators as well as all necessary control units and software. The modular design allows the configuration of complete systems which perfectly fit the users’ applications. FemtoTools’ instruments have already been used world wide by scientists and application engineers who work in bio or material sciences.

Micro force sensors and microgrippers

The FT-S micro force sensing probes are designed to measure forces from 5 nN up to 10 mN with customizable tip geometries.

The FT-G microgrippers can accurately handle and position objects from 1µm to 0.4 mm and measure the gripping force simultaneously.

Both tools require a special controller unit and software for accurate control and read-out.

OEM system

The OEM system has been developed to work with existing measurement and handling tools which are to be used for highly sophisticated micromechanical testing applications.

Modular system

The modular system has been designed to be integrated into any type of microscope. Both microgrippers (assembler) and micro force sensors (mechanical probe) may be combined with a high-precision manipulation unit which is mounted onto a customized microscope adapter plate.

Stand-alone and assembling systems

Additionally, FemtoTools offers a range of stand-alone systems for specific applications: the microassembly System, compression tester and biomechanical lab. All systems include a three-axis manipulation unit, a control unit with software and a corresponding camera to visualize the sample.
